Powering Progress at RTBMO Basecamp
Spring 2025 brought major advancements to the RTBMO Basecamp as we powered up and expanded accessibility for our Veterans and their families. Getting the camp full access to electricity and installing a hot water heater in a new weather-tight shed moving us toward our goal of a fully self-sufficient, comfortable retreat for those who have served.
On April 11, volunteer – Hunter Fox joined the team to assist in building the essential utility shed, which now supports the Basecamp’s power and hot water systems. Just a week later, on April 18, Brian Barker of Barker Electric in Roby, MO generously donated his time and materials to install a 200 AMP electrical panel, connect the camp generator, and wire the bathrooms in our second container. With a strong family connection to Veterans, Brian’s work made a lasting impact on RTBMO’s mission.
Meanwhile, the Basecamp’s natural beauty and purpose continue to grow. On April 22, new trails were carved—by hand and chainsaw—to create a gradual, accessible route to our second wheelchair-accessible deer stand, over 200 feet above camp. This “labor of love” ensures all Veterans, including those using all-terrain wheelchairs, can access one of the most scenic and meaningful hunting spots on the property.
As summer and fall approach, the RTBMO team looks forward to improving this trail and stand even further—making Basecamp a place where every Veteran can truly “Return To Base.”Support future projects and our mission at: www.RTBMO.org/donate
